Implants are an elective dental treatment option that restores lost or damaged teeth. Patients with decayed or unhealthy teeth will need to have them extracted to ensure that the implants provide optimal results.
Patients receiving implants will need two surgeries. The first procedure will surgically implant titanium posts into your jawbone. These posts will remain under your gumline for 3 to 6 months. This will give you time to heal from your first surgery.
Once you are fully healed, we will have you return for a second surgery. For this procedure, your gums will be lifted to expose the titanium posts so that extensions can be attached to them.
Your new implants will then be affixed to the extensions, leaving you with a permanent, beautiful smile. Healing is much faster following the second surgery. Soon, you will be able to resume your normal diet.
Patients who have missing, decayed, or damaged teeth may be great candidates for implants. However, our dentists will need to determine that you have sufficient bone in your jaw to support dental implants.
If necessary, we can perform a bone graft that serves to rebuild your bone structure that may have been lost over time as a result of missing teeth.
